POKERSTARS LAUNCHES NEW SPORTSBOOK IN BETA VERSION
Recently, online poker room big fish Pokerstars announced that they will incorporate casino games and sports betting into their online proposition. This didn’t result in positive responds everywhere. A large amount of their players criticized their decision to expand their online poker proposition.
It even resulted in the loss of a Team Pokerstars Pro member, Victoria Coren-Mitchell because she couldn’t agree to the new course that is set out.
Casino Games
Casino games by Pokerstars have been available for a couple of weeks already and since March 31st, a Beta-version of the sports-betting platform has launched and will soon be available on mobile as well.
But, the goal to increase cross-selling rates and increasing their online gambling share may very well backfire in the core of the company, poker. However, Amaya CEO, David Baazov, emphasized that the expansion is intended to attract new players and increase their market share in order to support the current growth plans for the poker department which is still the main priority and focus of the company.
Is this the right way to go for Pokerstars or will other online poker providers benefit from the new course business that they have chosen?
